The Week Ahead (2 meets!) 6/21-6/26

Good morning, Stingray families!  We've been swimming great and have a busy week ahead!  Here's what you need to know this week.

TWO MEETS (declare NOW!)

This week, we host Forsyth Country Club on Tuesday(theme: NEON) and travel to Waterford on Thursday(theme: SUPERHEROES).  Please declare your swimmers' availabilities NOW.  We are requesting them for both meets by 6PM TONIGHT.  There is a lot that goes into arranging lineups for ~200 swimmers, so we really need to set them as soon as we can with a double-meet week.

For our home meet, we will providing Jimmy John's (Stingrays GOLD sponsor!)after the meet.  Grab a sandwich and cheer on the end relays!  If you plan on staying, please RSVP at the button next to the event on our schedule, so we know how much to order.  We also have a couple donation opportunities for it to round out your meal.

We also have several volunteer openings for the meets.  If you can help out, please sign up.  I will send out more detailed information for each meet the day before to those who are signed up to swim.  Be on the lookout.  Thanks!

If you have not yet picked up your complimentary team shirt/cap or ordered merch, Nikki Bonifas will be at our shed in the parking lot from 430-500 before our Tuesday meet to get you your stuff!  Thanks Nikki!

A quick Stingray Zone note:  We obviously want to leave our space as clean as possible at the end of every meet and have been doing a very good job of that.  Please be mindful of the items that we bring to keep our swimmers busy.  Lots of little items makes for difficult clean-up!

TYDE clinic Monday morning

TYDE will be providing a free clinic for us on Monday morning that will focus on breaststroke, butterfly, and starts/turns.  Show up ready to learn!  We will still have our normal little rays practice that morning.

Other practice notes:  No practice Tuesday or Thursday evening, due to meets.  FUN FRIDAY is back for Friday morning.

Enfinity Starts/Turns Clinic

Enfinity Aquatic Club is providing free instruction for block starts and turns in preparation for our League Finals.  There are 3 dates available to register for the clinics in Kernersville and I have attached their flyer here.

The YMCA will also traditionally hold free starts and turns clinics as we near Finals, but those dates have not yet been released.

City Meet Recap

We had a really great day at City Meet on Friday.  Weather was about as good as we've ever had and we had some great racing.  Our boys finished 1st and our team finished 5th overall.  Hawken Tate and Libby Keit were individual age group champions.  Hawken set 2 new meet records!  Congrats to our swimmers and thanks to everyone who participated!

AWL photos was there to document the event and has a set of pictures HERE.

Swimmers of the Week

Greta Kistler

Coach Jenn says:  Not only did she do a great backstroke flip turn during the Brookberry meet, but she also jumped in to help stop the 6u backstrokers during one of the false starts that evening. Thanks Greta and great work!

Anastasia Jaynes

Coach Jenn says:  Watching her backstroke at Brookberry was seeing pure joy - she had the biggest smile on her face the whole time.

William Brown

Coach Sam says:  He always shows up right on time to practice. Works hard and is a great teammate.

Mr. Jason (Feltis)

Coach Reese says:  He went sub 30 in his 50 free, and had great performances in all his events! He didn’t get DQ, and he had a great setup to watch the soccer game at city meet.

Harris Walters
Coach Claire says:  He always has a good attitude when he’s about to swim and did very well at city meet!

Thanks for another great week, Stingray families!  Get those declarations in so we don't have to shift things around last minute.  But if there are late changes to your swimmers, please text Jenn at 336-340-7410.

Go Stingrays!
