Adopt a Park
In the spring of 2017, then 16 year old Stingray, Caroline Gardner spearheaded an effort to Adopt a Park on behalf of the New Sherwood Stingrays Swim Team. The new Muddy Creek Greenway extension trail on Cedar Trail became ours to beautify.
The Adopt-A-Park Program was established in 1989 by the Winston-Salem Recreation and Parks Department. It is now coordinated by Keep Winston-Salem Beautiful. The program provides the community a chance to become involved in the beautification and enhancement of our parks.*
Participating in the Adopt-A-Park program gives individuals and groups a chance to contribute to the enhancement of their community parks and provide a much-desired service to our city. While the Recreation and Parks Department provides normal maintenance to parks, adopters would provide extra care and attention, which makes a park more beautiful.*
Every summer, we gather at the greenway extension for an organized clean up day followed by an ice cream sundae party. We encourage all Stingrays who frequent the trail to keep and maintain it litter free throughout the year!
Thank you, Caroline!
