Waterford meet, League Finals, Swimmers of the Week 6-30-24
Hey everyone, I have a nice long email this week with lots of info. I want to thank everyone for their cooperation this past week with the double meets.
Tuesday @ Waterford
Our last away meet will be this Tuesday at Waterford. I will pass along more details as I receive them, but as of now, plan on being there no earlier than 4:30 with warmups likely at 5:05 and a meet start at 5:30. As always, let's be great guests. Following the pool's rules and good sportsmanship should always be paramount. My understanding is that the parking situation there is not fun for a large team and the meets will run a little long. So just be prepared. Please declare whether or not your swimmer is available by 6PM tonight. If anything changes after that, please reply to this email or text Jeremy at 336-416-2496.
As always, you all have been great at filling up volunteer slots. We currently have a few still available. 2nd half clerk of course runner (a very easy job), 2nd half 7-8 boys and 2nd half 9-10 boys stingray zones, which again, won't be so bad. Please sign up in the green volunteer slot next to the meet if you can. THANK YOU.
Our post-meet dinner will be at Mossy's in Clemmons.
Practice schedule this week
Because of our Tuesday meet and the 4th of July being on Thursday, our practice schedule looks a little funky. Our morning practices will ONLY be Monday through Wednesday, with Wednesday being a quasi-Fun Friday. Evening practices will only be held on Monday and Wednesday evening.
Social Committee update
Remember to collect new or gently used backpacks and school supplies for our community service and social event on July 7th at 2pm! Also, remember to sign up to bring items for the Ice Cream Sundae Bar!
Sunday, July 7th – Ice Cream Bar/Greenway Clean-up/Backpack Project. We are partnering with Novant Health and the YMCA Bright Beginnings to provide backpacks and school supplies for children in need. Please bring new or gently used backpacks and school supplies (pencils, markers, notebooks) to our Ice Cream Social on July 7th. We will have materials available to make cards for the children receiving the backpacks.
7/9 Neon night followed by pizza and a movie at the pool post meet!
League Finals
Our GFSL League Finals will be July 15th. PLEASE declare your swimmer available if they can swim that day. There are 2 sessions: 10 and unders are scheduled from 9am-1PM, 11 and ups are scheduled from 2:30-5:35. If you are available, but don't think your swimmer will "qualify," please declare as available. You never know how or when you will be needed and we will also have alternates on our deck on that day. If your swimmer is available, but you are concerned about transportation, please declare them as available. We will make sure your swimmer gets to and from the GAC by any means necessary.
We appreciate all your efforts to get to the GAC to swim that morning. If you have any further questions, the coaches and reps are happy to answer any questions you may have.
