Weekly Recap and Look Ahead (6/16-6/23)
Happy Father's day to all you Stingray dads out there! This week, we will be hosting the Sherwood Sharks on Tuesday. Please declare your availability by 6PM this evening(Sunday). Otherwise, I promise I will hassle you with more emails. If something changes for better or worse, please text Jeremy at 336-416-2496.
We will have our normal home meet routine on Tuesday: Arrive at 4:30 to swim warm-ups at 4:55. A timers and officials meeting will be held at 5:15. The meet starts at 5:30. We will have hot dogs and other concessions available to purchase in the circle drive next to the side pool entrance. Sunset Slush will also have a cart at the tennis court entrance. Our Stingray Zone will be held on the basketball court and please have your marked-up swimmer check in with a coach upon arrival. Quick reminder for all 11 year old swimmers: You no longer sit in the Stingray Zone. Please be on the watch for when your events will be swam and get in line at the appropriate times.
This will be our first themed meet. The theme is Hawaii. Wear your leis, hawaiian shirts and hats, and do whatever makes you think of Hawaii. Let's have fun with it! We will also have a post-meet dinner for those who can make it at La Carreta on Robinhood.
One other quick note: Remember that vaping and other illegal activity is not allowed at any meet, home or away. If discovered, you will be asked to leave. We should behave in ways that model good behavior for our swimmers. I have been stressing to our swimmers that once they finish their race, win or lose, they turn to the lane next to them and shake their opponents' hands. Likewise as parents, we need to display good sportsmanship. Thank you for your coooperation.
City Meet is on Friday for those who have registered. We are very pleased with the increased support for the meet this year. The 2024 theme is Toy Story. Dress up as your favorite character or help decorate our tent in a Toy Story theme. Reminder that the gates open at 9AM at Bolton Park Pool and the meet will begin at 10AM. Because all of the coaches will be at the meet, there is NO fun Friday practice this week.
