League Finals - ALL the details you need!

July 8th

Eight weeks ago, we opened our 2023 season with Pup Camp... on Monday we will close it with League Finals!  Here's what you need to know. 

League Finals Meet Schedule:

  • 10&U AM Session
    • 7:45 AM swimmers & volunteers arrive/gather outside
    • 8:25 AM New Sherwood warmups
    • 8:45 PM Block/Dive Starts
    • 9 AM Meet Start
    • Estimated duration 4 hours
  • 11&O PM Session
    • 1:15 PM swimmers arrive on deck
    • 1:55 PM New Sherwood warmups
    • 2:15 PM Block/Dive Starts
    • 2:30 PM Meet Start
    • Estimated duration 3.25 hours

Remind Groups - join NOW!!

On meet day, Remind text messages will be used for meet day communications - and will provide 2 way immediate communication.  Replies to the Remind texts come only to administrators, they do not reply to all. The adult/s accompanying your child on Monday will need to join the appropriate Remind group. If this is not a parent, please let us know, so we know who to contact during the meet in case of emergency and who to contact when your swimmer is ready to leave the deck at the end of the meet. 11&O swimmers AND parents should join the 11&O Remind group.

Morning Team Gathering Spot:

Our 7:45 AM gathering spot outside is a set of stairs to the right of the GACs main entrance. See image below. ALL AM session participants (10Us) and volunteers will meet OUTSIDE of the Greensboro Aquatic Center @ 7:45 AM. Lanyards will be handed out to volunteers - you will not be permitted deck access without a lanyard. Swimmers will be escorted TOGETHER as a team through the locker rooms by assistant coaches to our team area on deck (adults are NOT permitted in the locker rooms).

What to Bring:

All swimmers should come in swimsuits and team Ts.  Plan to bring all the usual swim meet items - goggles, towel, and water bottle.  We recommend sweatshirts and sweatpants (labeled with names!) as they may get a little cool on deck.  "Creative concealing" of food items in their swim bag is OK and they will need some snacks.  We will plan to have some snack items in our team area to share. We will also bring some Stingray Zone toys for entertainment. 

Heat Sheet:

A digital heat sheet will be sent out tomorrow. Please plan to complete EHL event markings prior to arrival AND write your swimmer's first initial, last name, NS and age group on the back of their right shoulder.  Clerk of Course volunteers will thank us if every Stingray has their name clearly marked on their shoulder!


Volunteer Info - Thank you, Volunteers!

Morning Volunteers & Officials:

  • All Clerk of Course and Team Parent volunteers will meet @ 7:30 AM outside at the designated stairs to receive lanyards for deck access.
  • 2nd half timers will receive a "switch lanyard" which will allow them access to the deck prior to their exchange.
  • The Clerk of Course Volunteer meeting will be at 8:30 AM on deck in the COC area along the far side wall.
  • The Timers meeting will be at 8:30 AM in the concourse hallway outside of the Hospitality room.
  • Stroke & Turn Officials Meeting will be at 8:30 AM in the Hospitality room. *Officials will receive lanyards during their meeting.

Afternoon Volunteer Timers/Officials:

  • PM volunteer timers can text Colleen when they arrive at the GAC. You will be met in the hallway concourse or in the stands to receive your timer lanyard. 2nd half timers will receive a "switch lanyard," which will allow them access to the deck prior to their exchange.
  • The Timers meeting will be at 2 PM in the concourse hallway outside of the Hospitality room.
  • Stroke & Turn Officials Meeting will be at 2 PM in the Hospitality room. *Officials will receive lanyards during their meeting.

*Reminder to all on deck volunteers, photos and videos are not permitted behind the the starting blocks.  GFSL will have photographers on site throughout the day and a link will be sent to their albums. 

Helpful Links to Review:

Remember, the GAC (1921 W Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403) is ~40 min away. PLEASE plan your departure accordingly. Plan to allow an extra 5-10 minutes for parking and to get through the parking booth (parking is $5). IF your swimmer is arriving late, you MUST let us know via text to Colleen @336-575-2978.

Once your swimmer is finished with their events, he/she is free to leave. During the 10U AM session, Remind texts will be used to communicate to waiting parents/sitters to arrange escort and pick up of 10U swimmers off deck.

SwimTopia will not be running live results but the meet can be found on Meet Mobile (however, this app is not free).

So, go signup for your appropriate Remind groups and visit our Job Signup to see how you can still help. Only volunteers with an official lanyard will be permitted on deck during sessions. All others must sit in stands to spectate.
