Waterford Stingrays @ New Sherwood

TOMORROW we will face Waterford Stingrays in our first HOME MEET of the season!!

VOLUNTEER SIGNUP - A few vacancies remain and concession items still needed. The Job Signup has been reopened until 9 AM tomorrow morning. If you haven’t already signed up, please check it out and see how you can help.

ARRIVAL - Plan to arrive between 4:15-4:30 PM to get set up, mark events, etc... If you need help, please seek big buddy or SZ volunteer. We recommend you complete EHL body markings prior to arrival to save time. Once entries are posted tomorrow, you will be able to see a snapshot of your swimmer’s event from the website (under June 7 Meet on Signup Calendar Page or under Upcoming Events on Home page) or on the SwimTopia app. Please mark EHL grid clearly using a Sharpie marker right side up (as they see it!) on your swimmer's arm or leg AND write first initial last name and their age group on the back of their right shoulder.

DECK - Spectators can gather on our home side which is the far end of the pool to the right of the diving well. Loungers will be set up sideways but you may want to bring deck chairs for set up. We will allow Waterford to set up on the visitor side near the shallow end of the pool near the tennis courts and guard hut.

STINGRAY ZONE - SZ will be located on deck tomorrow around the diving well with assigned tent areas marked for age groups. It will be VERY important to instruct your 10&U swimmers to remain in the SZ with their assigned parent volunteer so they can easily be found when their next events come around. They’ll be assisted to Clerk of Course benches and lined up there for events. Junior coaches can assist them during breaks in their event schedule for bathroom trips. We have plenty of games to keep them busy and they’ll be in and out of SZ for each of their events.

11 & OVER SWIMMERS - Congratulations, SZ graduates, you now have the freedom to roam during the meet. These swimmers have free reign of the pool deck and surrounding areas. The trade off… the BIG responsibility of keeping track of meet progression and lining themselves up for their own events. Optional check in with coaches before events. 11&Over swimmers need to take this responsibility seriously, we DO NOT want to be chasing them down before their events and no one likes to see an empty spot in a lane that should be filled!

ORDER OF EVENTS - We will be altering the “normal” order of events to frontload our 6U events. The 6U backstroke events (normally event #48 girls/49 boys) will be swum following the completion of the 15-18 50 yd Freestyle event (#24) and prior to the 7-8 25 yd Butterfly event (#25) This change was successful and well received last year for two reasons: 1) it allows 6U swimmers to finish their meet sooner and 2) it reduces crowding on the deck.

CONCESSIONS - Concessions will be set up on the blacktop near the playground (we DO NOT sell from the guard hut during meets). We will be selling Chick-fil-A sandwiches, fruit, chips, candy and drinks in our concessions. Sunset Slushes will also be present. CASH ONLY for all sales.  Stingray Bucks are earned by heat winners 10 and under - value 25 cents - and can be redeemed at swim meet concessions table.

*Donations can be dropped off in the guard hut at any time on Tues, clearly labeled "SWIM MEET CONCESSIONS." Concessions cash donations can be given to Shama Whitley, Christina or Colleen at or before the meet.

MISC RULES - The pool is closed to all except for competing swimmers - swimming in shallow or deep end is prohibited during the meet. The baby pool is available for use by children 5 and under UNDER DIRECT PARENTAL SUPERVISION. Swim team members should NOT be in the baby pool area during the meet. Tables will be set up on the blacktop and playground will be open as usual. 10&U swim team members who should be in Stingray Zone should NOT be found on the playground.

POST MEET DINNER - PREORDER NOW!  Burke Street Pizza will be delivered to the pool @ 9 PM. $15 medium cheese pizza and $20 for large cheese pizza. Cash payments can be delivered to concessions before or during the meet.
